Then you can step up to a complex aircraft, then multi-engine complex, etc etc.Īfter all that, work on good patterns and landing at airports without a navaid, like an ILS. I can't place all the lights togeather in GMAX and the light. The light model is exported seperatly and I need to be able to place the lights in the correct positions, in line, using an object placement program. Focus an making a really good pattern, with the ILS. Hi guys, Well I've got my runway light model and my attached light effects. Less confusion as to what's going on that way. Usually are at the big, commercial type airports, but it's best to learn all this at a smaller airport with an ILS you can use. Good luck to ya, and remember, there aren't always ILS at an airport. Keep It Simple, Stu.dent! Ha! Thought I was gonna say another word, dincha! :p That way, you can come back and practice all you like. Set up with the plane on the upwind side of the pattern, 1000' AGL, at normal cruise speed, so you can learn how/when to slow down to what speeds. I suggest using the default C172 for all this. You will see very quickly how the instruments tell you what you need to know to fly down to the runway. Plug a runway's ILS freq into Nav1, set your OBS arrow to the runway heading, and do patterns around the airport, doing touch-n-goes until your sick of them. I've seen a number of post that explain it very well.Īlternatively, you can try the "trial and error" method. Looks like you're either stuck with the lessons included with the sim, or reading through forum posts. Ok, I just looked at NavFltSim, and it appears to be down, but that may be something I'm doing. So what's the best way to learn to use ILS in the Sim ?Įither take the included Lessons in the sim, or go to Navfltsim. The only real way to confirm what has been configured is to use, as mentioned in my original post, a airport scenery tool to open the file and view what options are set for the runway approach lighting. What the sim airport has configured is very much in the hands of the developer who made it. If you look at the page I linked in my original post you will see that the RW longest runway (13R/31L and the one that I assume you are using most in the sim) does not have VASIs but PAPIs located on the left hand side - as does runways 4L/22R and 4R/22L. The most standard configuration is for them to be positioned on the left hand side of the runway only.įor more info on the difference between PAPI and VASI see this link Also, like VASIs, they can be positioned on either side of the runway or both. 181 3,526 posts Posted JanuHmmm I've just had my last night flight (r/w) last night to be precise, and I find it surprisingly dark at night ) maybe that also depends on where on earth you are, if there is moon etc but even unlit areas on the airport are obviously pretty much black lol. It got worse.Pat has given you the rquired info regarding your RW and PAPI question.įurther to his comments regarding PAPIs - they can also be present at smaller airports and airfields in a two light configuration.
Fsx runway lights update#
I hope I’am completely wrong my aim is not to push pesimism but every single update I feel disappointment.Ī single taxiway sign issue marked as fixed but we all see what we see !! It’s only a taxiway issue nothing more than shape and size. I fear if we are gonna have more bugs with the release of Xbox ? I think on a single platform it’s simple to fix things but on a double sided platform a fix is causing bug on other side.
Fsx runway lights Pc#
I believe MS / ASOBO can’t make us happy without seperating Xbox and PC because of software/hardware balancing/limiting issues.

I tried a lot to be optimistic from release but day after day we don’t see real progress even on major missing parts: No TCAS - No single study level plane - No high level working A/Pilot - No fully working wheather - Pixelated textures on clouds (Supposed to be fixed !!!) - terrain and airport environment - Bad huge taxiway signs (Supposed to be fixed !!!) - More and more… A looog list. We can pay more if it’s money related but they need to decide. Asobo should decide wheter is it a game or sim or lets say if there is a way to divide completely this into two as PC MSFS and XBOX MSFS please consider this.

I don’t want to feel the effects (downgrade on realism and visual side) of other platform that I don’t even consider trying. I don’t have a deep knowledge about softwares but if it’s related balance between PC and Xbox version I think that at some point we will be slowly run out of patience. We need to have some more default features. I can’t buy add on payware products for every single airport. How on earth does on a flight sim we have such weak clouds and bad looking lights (both runway and night city lighting) ? We see blue taxiway lights from above (We shouldn’t on most occasions) We don’t have a basic form of apron night lightings.
